Who we are

Proxar is an independently developed iOS application designed to reduce road accidents by alerting drivers when cyclists are nearby and confirming to cyclists that drivers have been notified of their presence.

What data we collect

Proxar collects the minimum data necessary to function:

• Location data — Your GPS coordinates while the app is active. This is used in real time to detect proximity between drivers and cyclists. Location data is transmitted to our secure servers and is not stored permanently after your session ends.
• Device identifier — An anonymous identifier generated by your device (not linked to your name, Apple ID, or any personal account). This is used solely to distinguish your device from other users on the road.
• Verification photos — Photos of your vehicle or bicycle submitted during account setup. These are used to verify your stated user type (driver or cyclist) and are stored securely.
• User mode — Whether you are using the app as a driver or cyclist. This is used to determine which alerts are relevant to you.

What we do not collect

• Your name, email address, or phone number
• Your Apple ID or any account credentials
• Payment information
• Contacts, photos beyond verification, or any other device data
• Precise route history or trip logs
• Any data when the app is not in use

How we use your data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the core safety functionality of Proxar:

• Detecting when a cyclist is within your alert radius and notifying you
• Confirming to cyclists that nearby drivers have been notified
• Adjusting your alert distance based on your current speed
• Enabling offline proximity detection via Bluetooth when no internet connection is available

Location data and background use

Proxar requests access to your location while the app is in use. If you enable always-on mode in settings, the app may access your location in the background to provide continuous protection while driving or cycling.

You can revoke location access at any time in your iPhone's Settings app under Privacy & Security → Location Services → Proxar.

Data sharing

Proxar uses Google Firebase to transmit real-time location data between users. This data is anonymized — other users see only a directional indicator on their radar screen, not your exact coordinates, name, or any identifying information.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data retention

Your real-time location data is automatically removed from our servers when you close the app or end your session. Verification photos are retained until you delete your account. Anonymous device identifiers are reset when you reinstall the app.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Stop location sharing at any time by closing the app or revoking permissions in Settings
• Request deletion of your verification photos by contacting us
• Use the app without an account — anonymous usage is supported

Children's privacy

Proxar is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as the app evolves. We will notify users of significant changes through an in-app notice. Continued use of Proxar after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission and Firebase's built-in security infrastructure to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take all reasonable steps to protect your information.
